Poem - Comfort in Another

I find the discussions of trans identity (gender, race, religion, species, entity) to be fraught with peril for those strongly denying the leap between bases. A “Trans free” environment denies the possibility of transforming. It disallows discomfort and welcomes cold sameness. Often the strongest critics care nothing about the comfort of the trans person. They instead feel their own pain as reality is questioned in uncomfortable ways. The poem “Comfort in Another” is about the dynamics of seeing comfort in another reality, and how denial of trans identity comes at great peril to ourselves.

Comfort in Another
Poem for Day 169 – 20150618

The trans exists outside,
with no staid reference
grounding them here.
Existing between worlds,
escaping and longing,
native in one, comfort in another.

When is the difference real,
a product of a larger world,
not shared by sect?
Seeking solace outside of base,
properties shared as a bridge,
familiar alien until itself.

Escape is only possible
when the outcome found
is larger than that disowned.
A madness, disillusion of the self,
finding wholeness
against the wishes of common folk.

Violation of nature at risk,
until the curtain is pulled aside
revealing all to be outside.
The comfort of the whole
trumps the self identity,
pain held by the lonely one.

The door is cracked,
held open by the one,
with madness screaming outside.
The one hears nothing,
only sweet assurances muting
psychic scream of inner voice.

Facts made plain to sight,
figures dictated to record,
yet the door still exists.
Violation of cold assurance,
cracks in silken space,
sanity the last line of defense.

The trans exists outside,
if the illusion is correct,
pity the soul embracing this.
Solace only exists in bound chains,
for we are all longing,
native in one, comfort in another.

Poem - Dancing Legs

Sometime I am inspired by the photos I take. This is the case for the poem “Dancing Legs”. It is short, but so incredibly sweet!

Dancing Legs
Bonus Poem for Day 168 – 20150617

Give me those gams,
both male and female,
give me those dancing legs!

There are no better ones,
none that I've seen before,
than those shapely legs.

Dip them, cross them,
stretch them, strut them,
the stems are on review.

Loveliness in motion,
sexiness in stillness,
wonderful all the time!

Lyrics - Dance with an Angel

Leading social dance, swing included, is a both a challenge and a terrifically fun experience. These lyrics express the promises made by the angelic lead. They are written in a six beat style. The lyrics “Dance with an Angel” were inspired by a photograph of a talented swing dancer and his equally capable partner.

Dance with an Angel
Bonus Poem for Day 168 – 20150617

Come dance with an angel,
leave your cares behind,
more than mere human,
less than divine,
you can see the halo.
Agent of the swing beat,
advocate of the dance,
follow them onto the floor,
they'll want nothing in return.

Angel's steps, yes beauty,
angel's leads, yes lovely,
come dance with an angel tonight.

Beware the fallen ones,
tempting the innocent.
Blues never hurt anyone,
silky words from Lucifer.
The rest are guardians,
protectors of their charge,
be it single or triple step,
the rock beat will be secure.

Angel's steps, yes beauty,
angel's leads, yes lovely,
come dance with an angel tonight.

Light on their flowing feet,
following the band's tune,
wings lifting their steps,
angelic guides at God's side.
Bending the laws of nature,
everything possible to them
from the downbeat forward
swing out or a triple step.

Angel's steps, yes beauty,
angel's leads, yes lovely,
come dance with an angel tonight.

Now I present myself,
I may be of this earth,
but the swing lifts me up,
putting me closer to heaven.
With you by my side,
I'll be your angel tonight.
Come dance with an angel,
come dance with me.

Angel's steps, yes beauty,
angel's leads, yes lovely,
come dance with this angel,
this angel,
with this angel tonight.
