Poem - Notes Carried

The poem “Notes Carried” is an inadequate description of the magic and balm I find in music. I have a little musical talent in the area of Native American flute playing. I really need to play with that so I can contribute to the divine's place in our world.

Notes Carried
Poem for Day 352 – 20151219

Notes carried through the air,
voice speaks to my heart,
shivers across my body,
the music has found its place.

I've lost sight of myself,
where the music ends
the edge of awareness,
against a beautiful void.

The metronome is offered,
rhythm tap on my soul.
I long to leave this place,
I stay as music salves the heart.

There is something there
beyond the circumstance
of my life unrealized
outside of divine's gentle touch.

The mirror is seen within,
music I cannot produce.
There I see God's face-to-face
in the notes held in the air.

Is it enough to weep aloud
at the beauty found within
when the music plays without
held by grace and made by man?
