So Many Suns
So many suns outside these walls
lending rays to light the dark
super novas burning bright
casting shapes into my sight
each is a miracle to behold
against the odds they burn on
embers of the greater good
lending aid to my sheltered world.
I cheer them on in faint support
a single voice to lend my strength
limited by my cave’s cold walls
as troubles seek to douse their fire
their demise would chill my heart
so in response I’ll hold the line
nurture orbs of light’s fount
building forms on my wall.
These consorts will always be
companions of my history
to know them is the greatest tool
once in knowledge, twice revealed
towards this end the fires assist
through the door into my cave
I owe so much to these shapes
silhouettes enriched my life.
