Poem - Round the Wheel

The poem “Round the Wheel” is my poetic contribution to looking forward to 2017. 2016 was a year of ups and downs. I can only hope that 2017 has less downs and more ups.

Round the Wheel

Hello New Year, this open door
inviting all to step within
the joy and pain behind
now in the past, moved beyond.

As tears are dried on the stones
spent to show the angst within
banners blanch in the sun
celebrations now long forgot
pamphlets collect in the curbs
with the crowds long gone
tunes have crossed to the void
dance steps echoes heard no more.

Could the same await within?
Time will tell, all or none of them
the only promise is this my friend
another chance to go round the wheel.
