This poem goes out to you my friend
the one so different from the rest
no matter how you live your life
there you shine as one of mine
delicate flower you may be
don't mistake variety
for a weakness of character
when to be different makes you tough.
I don't care if you sin
in the eyes of lesser men
though they stand high above
(or so they think in their minds)
in reality the critics shrink
minds confined to smallest box
with no reference for my friends
they puzzle why while they complain.
You extoll a will to live
far beyond my meager skills
to this I look for guidance
as I struggle with my blandness
daring deeds are yours to show
high above the cringing crowd
I include myself with them
wishing I could just ascend.
The skin is shown, tattoos bared
alternatives of preference placed
gender flows between the poles
these I embrace as my fold
friends will come and friends may go
you are special for your choice
to live beyond the normal curve
urging me to do the same.
