Poem - The Loss

“The Loss” is the poetic response to a YouTube that commented on the unwarranted association of relationship deviancy to trans and queer people. The video spoke to the YouTube restricted mode, a mechanism that seems to enforce the worse of societal attitudes regarding alternative gender identity and sexual attraction. "Don't ask, don't tell" still feels like the norm, but this does little for those people who find themselves on alt paths. IMO denial and closeting are more harmful than having access to information explaining their expanded world, relative to prior societal boxes.

The Loss

Alt desire and mode of dress
does not bode the improper
towards the world as a whole
no more than straight makes for a perv
identity and love’s attraction
don’t make for monsters in themselves
the disconnect seems to be
expectations by society.

The binary constructs the boxes
male and female may only cross
in seeking love to fill the void
when the heart asks for more
this would be fine if life would fit
not busting out the walls they wish
that all the people could fit inside
including those of familia link.

Another expression of the double
would be identity in the present
outside of the stamp of birth
set upon the natal flesh
wishing only to feel a comfort
in their bodies, mode of dress
none of this is conspiracy
to prey in the lavatories.

Integrity of identity
in attraction or sense of self
impacts the mental health
with bad leading to a death
when the improper is assumed
by society in their four walls
the losers are the ones outside
assumed as bad, now the loss.
