Lure of Fate
Perhaps acceptance is the bane
greatest sin of all of them
if a person is self-absorbed
bent to think of themselves
this I try to not abide
in myself when demons call
with their offers held at hand
and the knife behind the back
seduction calls with painted face
the charm of laughter heard at first
promise made of the gay fare
cotton candy and merriment
when cold sin is mixed with good
as the former may be wrong
the latter pleasure still invites
with wicked promise of delights
breaking bones for all those
impacted by the tempting treats
of lollipops in Devil's hand
sugar rotting the inner soul
this is too harsh in the all
I think now, though time will tell
acceptance found deep inside
shaking off the lure of fate.
