Poem - Once Concealed

The accounting of the actions of men, both nationally and in my regional back yard, led me to write the poem “Once Concealed”. This poem does have a twist. I believe that good or neutral actions have outcomes as well. These outcomes may be nearly invisible, but they are as real as the judicial outcomes. Additionally, only a few evil actions can cancel out a lifetime of relatively good actions. What’s the answer? Besides respecting others, remember to follow the Golden Rule while considering what karmic outcomes await in the future.

Once Concealed

The bill comes due in its time
not dissuaded by the charms
or the desire to send off course
destiny evoked by past conduct

good or bad, they ask the same
when the balance is maintained
between what's come before
and the judgment of the now

karma knocking on life's door
echoing through future's hall
with the evil resounding loud
deafening good by sharp contrast

so many deeds become cold dust
those that once had high praise
when compared to the dark misdeeds
these become lost history

this is assured above all things
walk lightly upon the world
doing good where you can
denying Satan his requests

because when the bill is received
doom will visit with its ills
or quiet reverence will be revealed
for past actions once concealed.
